Turmeric Almond Overnight Oats

Oats used to be my breakfast for almost all my childhood. They tend to have a bad reputation in terms of bloating and producing mucus in your colon. If the oats are prepared the right way they actually support the digestion and soak toxins up from our intestinal walls. I use whole oats, gluten-free, rich in anti-oxidants and full of fibre, which means they satisfy the hunger for a long time, while keeping the blood sugar low. I soak the oats in the evening before going to bed and then my breakfast is almost done when I get up in the morning. Soaking oats prevents bloating and gas because the starch is broken down and the natural physic acid decreases.

YOU NEED

FOR 1 BIG BREAKFAST BOWL

1 big jar

100 g organic, whole oats, gluten free

100 ml almond milk, unsweetened

1 table spoon turmeric

1 table spoon raw sunflower seeds

1 table spoon raw pumpkin seeds

2 table spoon raisins

1 table spoon coconut milk

1 tea spoon cinnamon

THE MAKING

Fill the oats in a jar, add the seeds and 1 table spoon of raisins

Warm the almond milk in a pan, don't boil it

Add the turmeric and stir to a even, smooth texture

Pour the almond milk in the jar, stir the mass, all oats need to be covered in milk

Let the oats cool down, close the jar ans leave it in the fridge over night

next morning....

Take the jar from the fridge and put the oats in a bowl

Leave them for 10-15min until they reach room temperature

Meanwhile you can prepare your toppings, I used dragonfruit but you can use any fruit

Cut the fruits in pieces and decorate them on top

Sprinkle coconut milk over oats and fruits

Topp with raisins and cinnamon

MY TIP

Have you tried overnight oats with peanut butter, crunchy granola and coconut chips, yet ?!

You can't do anything with oats, get creative, try new toppings and new flavors. Frozen berries

are one of my favorite fruits to add...
